I. A Brief Introduction to the Social Work Major
Undergraduate student recruitment of Social Work Major began in 2005, which is one of the earliest collages that has established this major. During the fourteen-year major establishment and personnel training process, the teaching and research team of social work specialty has made gratifying achievements in the fields of teaching, scientific research and personnel training based on classroom, facing the society, consolidating theory and emphasizing practice. It has obtained the qualification of Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2018 and enrolled students in 2019. So far there are 9 full-time teachers, including 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 4 lecturers and 1 assistant; 10 external practice supervisors, 2 off-campus practice bases and 1 social work professional laboratory, which effectively guarantee the quality of teaching. The initial employment rate of graduates is over 85%, and the employers’ satisfaction and satisfaction rate for graduates is over 90%.
II、Educational Objectives
Based on Baotou and facing the actual needs of social and economic development in Inner Mongolia, this major aims to cultivate students with firm and correct political orientation, understanding and supporting Party and state policies, humanistic accomplishment, scientific spirit, social responsibility, innovation and entrepreneurship consciousness, basic professional value ethics of social work, rich theoretical knowledge of social work and professional service skills, which also require sound personality, love and team spirit. Application type of talents can be engaged in social security, social service research, social administration, community service and management, supervision and evaluation of social work in civil affairs, labor, social security and health departments, community and trade unions, youth, women and other social welfare organizations and public welfare organizations.
Objectives Contents:
Objective 1:Identify the professional concept of social work and abide by the professional ethics and ethics of social work; be able to understand the importance of social work to social construction, conscientious and meticulous in work, and the initiative and consciousness to do a good job in professional services.
Objective 2:Master the solid theoretical knowledge and research ability of social work specialty, and can effectively use professional knowledge to direct practicing.
Objective 3:Qualify oneself with the ability to launch practical work, integrate social resources and promote the service process, and can provide high-quality and efficient services to the clients.
Objective 4:Be able to accomplish the work of social welfare institutions, social organizations and other related management positions with good communication, coordination, management and cooperation capabilities.
Objective 5:Possess wide vision, lifelong learning ability, continuous improvement of knowledge structure and optimization of practical skills, to achieve continuous improvement of management and service level
III. Basic Requirement
Graduates of this major are expected to have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
i. quality requirements
1. Ideological and moral quality:patriotic love for China and love our people, supporting the Party and the state's policies and guidelines; need to be well-behave, law-abiding, loyal to duty, and willing to dedicate; ought to be full of teamwork awareness, and follow the professional ethics and ethics.
2. Physical and mental quality: physical health needs to meet the national physical fitness test standards. Mental health is important as well; to be optimistic and upward, with good self-adjustment ability.
3. Professional quality: caring for society, understanding society and serving society; the knowledge and ability to analyze social phenomena from a comprehensive and holistic perspective are required; the multicultural knowledge and ability to recognize, understand and communicate; and the value orientation, professional knowledge and ability to promote social policy improvement and social progress by carrying out social services.

5. Professional knowledge: master the basic theory, research methods, discipline development and related knowledge in the main research fields of Social Work Specialty

6. Basic Skills: proficient Chinese expression skills; able to use foreign languages for research and communication; proficient in computer and information technology.
7. Professional Skills: professional knowledge, theories and methods of social work are used to find, analyze and solve problems; professional skills include social investigation and research, policy research and evaluation, social management and social services.
8. Knowledge Application and Professional Work Ability: understanding, cognition and adaptation to the reality, combining theory with practice, communication, organization, coordination, management and team cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship awareness and ability
